Parkroyal on Pickering, Singapore, and Ammo, Hong Kong, have taken winning accolades at the Inside: World Festival of Interiors in Singapore – in the Hotels and Bar & Restaurant categories respectively. Macalister Mansion in Penang, Malaysia, by Ministry of Design was listed as highly commended, while David Kohn Architects’ Carrer Avinyo apartment in Barcelona was crowned the best interior design of 2013.
Parkroyal on Pickering by Singapore-based architecture firm, Woha, sees sky-gardens and tropical plants cover a Singapore skyscraper. The new-build hotel is located in the centre of the business district, and comprises a luxurious interior with an awe-inspiring exterior.
Ammo is located in a former explosives magazine compound built in Hong Kong by the British army in the mid-19th century. Led by Joyce Wang, the design of the space features copper as a predominant material. The bunker-like ceiling is supported by copper ribs and warmly lit to further reference the explosives magazine history. Luxurious leathers, velvets and silks were chosen to offset the design’s hard-edged custom fixtures and detailing.
