West Yorkshire based-contract furniture manufacturer, YTM Group, has been awarded Business of the Year in an initiative run by Yorkshire law firm, Eaton Smith Solicitors, in conjunction with Business Link and Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce. The awards have now been running for 18 years, and are designed to recognise businesses that demonstrate acumen and ambition in the Kirklees, Wakefield and Calderdale areas of West Yorkshire.
YTM won the award based on its record expansion, which is the result of a clearly-defined business strategy and entrepreneurial drive. Established in Pontefract in 1981, YTM is a leading manufacturer of high-quality furniture for the care, hospitality and education sectors. Over the last 6 years, the company has achieved an average annual growth rate of 25%, including investment in second premises in Whitwood, Castleford. This new opening has helped to create 80 local job opportunities – of which 10 are NVQ-based apprenticeships – to encourage young people into the workplace.
