The transformational power of art

Sophie HarperBy Sophie Harper29 March 20234 Mins Read

Within the three-dimensional reality of our world, art has a unique ability to interact with Ҭand influence both us and our surroundings. By creating atmosphere and a clear sense of place, Ҭart is the extra dimension that can elicit in each of us an emotional, human response.

Nowhere is this more true than in hospitality. From design that inspires, invigorates or soothes,Ӭ art has a key role to play in generating visual impact and transforming our experience.

Working with colour, texture and pattern, the artist Ann Generlich helps to enhance and accentuate not only the atmosphere of a location, the experience it opens up to those who step inside, but also the well-defined personality or brand it seeks to express.

In her studio, Ann creates unique single works, which can be displayed individually or combined Ҭto form stunning narrative or thematic installations. Inspired by nature, particularly the human form, her art is distinctive in its fluidity and concept, and guaranteed to generate a focal point that complements any space in which it is situated. Ҭ

Light and shade, space and colour are her signature keynotes, and the appeal of her work is understandably wide. Galleries, interior designers, property developers and architects are among her clients, alongside private collectors, owners of high end restaurants and retail, Ҭand the luxury hospitality sector. Settings where art is ever central to the clear objective of instillingӬ in each guest a sense of wellbeing, relaxation and inspiration.

Based in Buckinghamshire, but having grown up in East Berlin, it is perhaps not surprising that “¨a profound sense of harmony should be a defining characteristic of Ann’s art. “¨

Of her artistic approach Ann says,”In constant movement towards harmony, balance and polarity, perpetually in change, art speaks to us where words are unable to explain. In this way, it can feel like music, music without words. Harmony, themes, emotions – all of this we also experience through vision. And this language, the language of art, is one that can be understood by every human on earth.

The message of a work of art is personal to the artist, yes definitely. But the artwork reaches out to every person who sees it, opening up new interpretations, other possibilities, different responses. “¨In this way art, in a shared environment, has the effect of allowing us to feel both our own personal reflections, but also our common ground – the certain knowledge of what it is to be human. You can feel and witness this on any day, in any art gallery around the world. In a hospitality setting, the effect is all the more potent.”

Delivering statement, drama and intrigue, Ann’s artwork can be individually commissioned or selected from her collections to suit individual aspirations. For example, Symphony is a body of her work composed of large scale paintings and 3D wall art sculptures that are designed to provoke a sense of tranquility by inviting the viewer to slow down, let their mind wander and leave behind the concerns of the everyday.

The impactful nature of her wall art sculptures is particularly effective in the luxury hospitality environment. Visual melodies are created through texture and colour, awakening the senses. “¨As both a talking point, and a point of private reflection, the transformative potential of Ann’s art “¨ is clear for all to see, and to enjoy.

Ann Generlich and her team pride themselves on their attentive client liaison, to ensure optimal project management and timely delivery. If you are planning your next project and would like to find artwork that will help you to create not just a perfect first impression, but a truly memorable one, her website may be the perfect place to begin.
