Langham Place, Changsha, opens as Langham Hospitality Group’s 13th hotel in China, and the 25th property in the group’s growing global portfolio.

The 295-room hotel is located within the expansive Da Wang Shan Resort, a world class tourist destination southwest of Changsha. The complex is surrounded by striking natural landscapes, which include the Da Wang Shan, Xiang River, Tongxi Lake, Baxi Island and Xiangjiang Happy City.

“We are very proud to introduce Langham Place, Changsha to the city and manage this new landmark hotel within this dynamic entertainment complex,” says Stefan Leser, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group. “The arrival of our brand and the opening of this stunning hotel will further enhance the guest’s experiences at Dawang Mountain Resort and this historically rich city of Changsha.”

“We are honoured to partner with Langham Hospitality Group, and are delighted to introduce luxury hospitality to the Da Wang Shan Resort, our landmark tourism project for this region,” said Mr. Zhao Chunhua, chairman of Huanian Cultural Tourism under Xiangjiang Group. “Together, I am confident we will put Changsha on the map as a must-visit destination for travellers.”

The property has been designed by renowned international architect Wolf D. Prix of Coop Himmelblau – the pioneer of contemporary architecture in exploration and deconstructivism, and whose award-winning designs include Musee des Confluences in Lyon, France; Busan Cinema Centre in South Korea and BMW Welt – a brand experience centre in Munich, Germany. Connected to Snow World via a plaza, the iconic hotel tower is specially designed with a highly economical system providing state-of-the-art sun shading and natural ventilation.

The hotel interiors, which include the 295 guest rooms and suites, are thoughtfully planned to accommodate travellers on business trips or holidays. The rooms range from a spacious 36 square meters for the deluxe room to a generous 255 square metres for the Presidential Suite. Families may select from a range of accommodation including the Executive Two-Bedroom Suites.

Each room is equipped with The Langham’s famous blissful bed, and furnished with a warm, neutral colour palette. The French windows provide a 180-degree view of the rivers and lakes surrounding the resort, providing a much welcome breather from busy city life.

The hotel offers three different dining concepts to suit all discerning palates.  The Place is a vibrant all-day dining restaurant, offering a widespread buffet selection and an à la carte menu featuring international cuisines. Ming Court is inspired by its Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant counterparts in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and will present diners with a fine-dining experience, featuring the freshest seasonal ingredients in an elegant setting.

Peak, the bar located at the highest level of the hotel offers a panoramic view of the Xiangjiang Happy City and Changsha’s city skyline. The destination bar is the ideal menu for pre-dinner drinks, after-hours cocktail or a gathering with friends.

A tradition which started at The Langham, London since 1865, English afternoon tea will be served to guests at The Salon. Guests may indulge in a bespoke version of the afternoon tea experience where specialty teas are served, accompanied by delicate savoury and sweet delicacies created by the talented pastry team.

A venue for key events, meetings and celebrations in Changsha, the hotel features more than 2,000 square metres of space for conferences and events, including a 1,100 square metre pillar-less Grand Ballroom with natural lighting, and a 360 square metre independent pre-function room, the Yuelu Ballroom. The Grand Ballroom and Yuelu Ballroom both have separate entrances, providing guests with direct access to the venues.

For guests seeking a soothing respite, the award-winning Chuan Spa is an urban wellness sanctuary to pamper and restore balance to the mind, body and soul. The Spa focuses on holistic treatments integrating the principles of traditional Chinese medicine using the five elemental forces of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. A fully-equipped fitness centre and indoor swimming pool with a vast skylight are also available for the health and fitness needs of guests.
