Alternative Flooring Continues to Drive Sustainable Design Forward

Award-winning flooring brand Alternative Flooring continues to push boundaries in design-led, responsible flooring, leading the way with an innovative range of carpets, rugs and runners.

Stealing the spotlight are the brand’s latest sustainable launches – Echo-CoRE, the award-winning Anywhere Ca-rPET and the newest addition, Velvet Ca-rPET. Each brings its own distinctive style, texture and finish to interiors, showing how high performance, standout design and sustainability can work seamlessly together across residential, hotels, restaurants and high-traffic commercial spaces.

A true breakthrough in circular design, Echo-CoRE is the UK’s first fully recyclable floor covering for the home. Crafted entirely from 100% polyester – from the yarn and fibre through to the backing, with zero latex – it has been crafted with its entire lifecycle in mind.

Proving that sustainability doesn’t mean compromising on beautiful design, Echo-CoRE has the look and feel of wool, with a soft yet durable finish underfoot, and comes in 10 versatile shades. Suitable for wall-to-wall installations or made into bespoke rugs and runners through Alternative Flooring’s Make Me A Rug service, it brings circular thinking into every space.

Designers and specifiers drawn to a more natural aesthetic without sacrificing performance, Anywhere Ca-rPET offers total versatility. Crafted using recycled PET yarn, also known as rPET, Anywhere Ca-rPET is made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional yarn. With 50 bottles needed to produce 1kg of yarn, and 1kg of yarn being enough for 1m2 of Anywhere Ca-rPET, this innovative solution is both efficient and sustainable.

Suitable for use everywhere – indoors and out – it has the look of sisal while outperforming it on resilience and longevity. Hard-wearing, stain-resistant and available in 4m and 5m widths, it’s ideal for busy homes, hospitality spaces and outdoor living, including rugs that can live outside whatever the weather.

For plush, high-performance flooring with sustainability woven into every fibre, Velvet Ca-rPET stands out. Made entirely from post-consumer plastic bottles and produced using wind and solar power, it offers a beautifully soft feel underfoot while remaining hard-wearing and stain-resistant. Finished in a colour palette inspired by Italian cities, it brings a refined, design-led edge to sustainable flooring.

Together, these collections showcase Alternative Flooring’s belief that great design and sustainability should go hand in hand – an important pillar for the brand that also aligns seamlessly with its sponsorship of this year’s Sustainable Design Awards, celebrating innovation that puts both Product and Planet first.
