Sustainable Hospitality Design Gets Its Red Carpet Moment – New Awards Launched

Hospitality Interiors is proud to announce the launch of the Sustainability in Design Awards – a brand new initiative celebrating innovation, leadership, and creativity in sustainable design across the luxury hospitality sector.

Taking place on Thursday 26th March 2026 at the iconic BAFTA 195 Picadilly venue in London, this landmark event will shine a spotlight on the designers and studios leading the way in responsible and regenerative design. With sustainability now an essential consideration across every facet of the hospitality experience, these awards recognise those who are not only raising the bar in aesthetics and function, but also reshaping the future of hospitality through environmental and social responsibility.

Vicky Doe, Editor of Hospitality Interiors, detailed the excitement surrounding the news: “We are thrilled to launch the Sustainability in Design Awards. These awards celebrate the incredible achievements of the hospitality interior design industry and, with a focus on sustainability, allow projects and designers to be recognised for creative and innovative thinking.

“BAFTA 195 Picadilly is an incredible venue, steeped in glamour and glitz and we cannot wait to merge the worlds of design and cinema in one place for a unforgettable evening of celebration!”

Award Categories

The Sustainability in Design Awards span a comprehensive set of categories, honouring both emerging talent and established leaders:

F&B: New Project – Recognising sustainable design in newly built luxury food & beverage spaces

F&B: Renovation – Celebrating exceptional sustainability-led renovation projects in the luxury F&B space.

Boutique Hotel: New Project – Highlighting sustainability in newly built boutique hotels with fewer than 100 rooms.

Boutique Hotel: Renovation – Recognising projects for sustainable redesigns of boutique hotels with fewer than 100 rooms.

Large Hotel: New Project – Awarding excellence in the sustainable design of large-scale hotels (100+ rooms) from the ground up.

Large Hotel: Renovation – Showcasing transformative, environmentally responsible renovations of larger hospitality properties.

In addition, a Project of the Year title will be awarded to one outstanding winner selected from across the above six categories – a true best-in-class achievement in sustainable hospitality design.

Individual honours include:

Interior Designer of the Year – Celebrating a designer who has consistently delivered excellence in sustainability across luxury hospitality projects.

Young Interior Designer of the Year – Recognising emerging talent under the age of 35 who are shaping the future of sustainable interiors.

Innovation of the Year – For a studio or designer who has pushed boundaries through a specific sustainable solution or concept.

Design Studio of the Year – Acknowledging a studio demonstrating consistent excellence across multiple sustainable hospitality projects.

Lifetime Achievement Award – Honouring a pioneering designer whose career has been dedicated to advancing sustainability within the industry.

A Night to Inspire

BAFTA 195 Picadilly will provide the backdrop for the awards ceremony which will bring together the most influential names in hospitality design for an evening of celebration, networking, and inspiration.

Judges

Glenn Mandziuk – Chief Executive Officer, World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance

Glenn Mandziuk is an internationally recognised and award-winning chief executive whose 30-year career spans tourism, hospitality, and economic development across the corporate, charitable, and not-for-profit sectors. As Chief Executive Officer of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, he leads the world’s most influential hospitality coalition, representing over 66,000 hotels and 8 million rooms, uniting CEOs, governments, investors, and NGOs to accelerate the transition to Net Positive Hospitality.

Marie Soliman – Founder and Creative Director of Bergman Design House

Marie Soliman, Founder and Creative Director of Bergman Design House is an award-winning designer with 20 years of design experience in the hospitality, commercial and residential sectors.

Marie’s keen eye for the timeless and the well-crafted has guided her on journeys around the world from the Bahamas, to the Middle East, New York, and Maldives to spearhead such globally recognised projects as The One and Only, The Other house Hotel, South Kensington, and The Other house Covent Garden.

Sam Hall – Director, Interior Design – Europe, IHG

With a career spanning over 25 years, Sam is an experienced Interior Designer with a passion for the hospitality industry and has established herself as a prominent figure in the field.

Throughout her career, Sam has collaborated with various hotel owners and operators, contributing to the transformation of numerous properties. Notably, she spent a decade at G.A Design, one of the industry’s foremost international hospitality design consultancies.
