Splendid Hospitality Group (SHG) has unveiled the newly completed extension to Hilton London Bankside.
The extension adds two premium Penthouses to the hotel’s existing room count including a significant increase in room capacity, strengthening a property that has become one of SHG’s principal assets in the UK and employing over 200 people. The investment reflects the Group’s position that hospitality serves a functional economic role, supporting business travel, attracting international tourism and contributing to wider investment in city centres.
The Group’s growth has been consistent since the disruption of COVID-19, with 500 rooms already added and an additional 500 in the pipeline to open in the next 3-5 years.
Hilton London Bankside, located just a stone’s throw from leading London landmarks such as Tate Modern and Borough Market, has performed strongly since opening, winning multiple prestigious awards including The Sunday Times Best Places to Work, Hotel of the Year at The Cateys Awards – UK, and Best Events Team at the Conference & Events Awards. It is also the second UK-based hotel to achieve a GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) accreditation certificate – the global gold standard for sustainability in travel and tourism. The extension reflects SHG’s experience delivering complex projects in constrained urban areas, with a focus on long-term stewardship rather than single-cycle development. The project also underlines SHG’s long-term commitment to London as a market, where the Group continues to see sustained demand and significant opportunity.
SHG owns and operates its hotels directly, continually investing in them throughout their ownership. This approach ensures assets remain commercially relevant and well connected to their surroundings. It also allows the Group to engage with local communities at an early stage, providing the certainty needed to invest in design, sustainability and placemaking.
Nadeem Boghani, Executive Chairman, Splendid Hospitality Group, said: “In a market defined by rising costs and shifting consumer expectations, we believe being a safe pair of hands matters more than ever. Our focus is on long-term partnership, owning our assets, operating them well and reinvesting over time. Hospitality plays a vital role in economic growth, and by working collaboratively, we can deliver developments that work for communities as well as for our business.”
Stephen Cassidy, Senior Vice President, UK&I, Hilton comments: “Our partnership with Splendid Hospitality Group is built on a shared ambition to create exceptional hotels, and the extension of Hilton London Bankside is a wonderful example of that. Splendid has done a fantastic job creating beautiful new suites and welcoming spaces that help guests feel connected to the character and culture of the local area.”
Looking ahead, SHG anticipates further expansion across hospitality, care and mixed-use development as planning consents are secured. Hilton London Bankside is part of a wider investment programme, with further announcements expected in the coming months.
