Prominent Formula 1 racing driver, Sir Stirling Moss OBE, specified Granite Transformations to upgrade the third-story bathroom as part of the extensive refurbishment at his high-tech Mayfair property. The surfacing specialist provided its elegant agglomerate interior finishes and Trend glass mosaic tiles to enhance the futuristic setting. The project proved a high-profile case study of the aesthetics and durability of the company’s products, which have also been specified for a range of contract settings.
Working in close consultation with the client, Granite Transformations specified its Polar Ice quartz agglomerate in tile and sheet formats for the main flooring, bath panels, shower liner and integrated seat. Trend Vitreo 160 white 2cm-square semi-transparent glass mosaic tiles were chosen for the flat walls and shower flooring, where the textured surface and frequent grout lines provide extra slip resistance.
A slim accent line adorns the walls, which is crafted from four runs of precious 1cm-square Aureo 026 white gold tiles, made with 24 carat gold leaf sandwiched between thin layers of blown glass. This silver accent is taken up dramatically by Trend’s Liberty Diamond designer mosaic, its characteristic irregular hand-cut shapes, contrasting textures and shimmering diamond brilliance giving the room a distinctive contemporary look.
