Hong-Kong-based 4N Architects have recently completed the design of this striking new restaurant in one of the busiest airports in mainland China. Part of the Café Deco Group – one of Hong Kong’s leading restaurant groups – the restaurant emanates a stylish art deco vibe, complete with glamorous surfacing and stylish vintage pieces.
4N Architect’s main focus was to create a relaxing and welcoming retreat from the hustle and bustle of the airport, whether for a solitary traveller who might want to have a drink and use the free WiFi, or a group looking to eat and socialise.

4N Architects embraced the structural restrictions and budget constraints upon this project, retaining the airport structure and borrowing intelligently from existing elements such as the architectural form of the ceiling and the striking views of the airport runway through the glass panels.
Offering an impressive 431ft² of dining area, the restaurant can cater for 180 diners, serving up a full variety of international dishes from Italian-style pizzas to Southeast Asian delicacies.
The unique open kitchen forms a key visual centrepoint, along with a striking backdrop wall of old pictures of Hong Kong and a brass electric clock thought to have been made in the 1930s.
Bronze art deco sconces cast an ambiant light over diners, who can take their pick from the elegant bar area with its ostrich-leather bar stools or the marble tables and custom-made vintage sofas within the cosy dining area.
