ercol, a leading British furniture maker, has continued to develop its presence in the hospitality sector by becoming a chair supplier of choice for prominent eateries across the country. ercol has supplied to the contract market throughout its 90-year history, and has seen a recent resurgence of interest.

Most recently, the ercol Holland Park Chair has been selected for both Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen in Bristol and The Perkin Reveller, a new restaurant located at Tower Wharf outside the Tower of London. Designed for ercol by renowned British furniture designer, Russell Pinch, the Holland Park Chair combines striking modern design with practicality, having been designed to be stacked. The piece is handcrafted out of beech at ercol’s Buckinghamshire factory.

In addition, the popular cafe in London’s Heal’s store has been kitted out with ercol’s signature Originals furniture. Adding to the eatery’s ambiance are the Stacking Chair, Chairmaker’s Chair, Plank Table and Nest of Tables. Originally created in the 1950s, these pieces are distinctive in their simplicity, creating a homely, timeless charm for customers.

Furthermore, ercol’s iconic Butterfly chair was chosen for three Las Iguanas restaurants, at Westfield Stratford, Cambridge and the South Bank Centre. All were specified in a painted aqua finish. Meanwhile, the Stacking chair was selected for Le Bistrotheque in London and by American restaurant chain, Chipotle, for its new ShopHouse Southeast Asian restaurants.

Nick Garratt, ercol MD, comments: “We are delighted to see so many of our chairs being chosen for such prestigious establishments. Leveraging our strong reputation in the hospitality sector, we look forward to many more projects of this calibre, as we continue to champion innovation and craftsmanship in British furniture design both for the contract and domestic market.”
