Molteni & C at London Design Festival 2015

For the London Design Festival 2015, Molteni & C will recreate the atmosphere of its 80!Molteni exhibition, which is currently on display at Galleria d’Arte Moderna (GAM) in Milan. The company will exhibit an installation by Jasper Morrison and graphics by Studio Cerri & Associati as part of its LDF presence.

The exhibition represents eighty years of experience, quality and innovation at Molteni & C, founded in Giussano, Italy in 1934. Much has changed since the business, launched by Angelo and Giuseppina Molteni, took its first steps. Production is now industrial, distribution is now international and the capacity for innovation is vast, with endless opportunity for investment in research and development.

However, one thing has remained the same – quality. This is the common thread that has united the development of the company for three generations, allowing it to become a global leader in the furniture and design industry, and a representative of Italian-made products in more than 80 countries worldwide.

Today, Molteni’s story is one of excellent entrepreneurship and it is one of the few businesses to guarantee its entire production cycle. The company has thus contributed to the growth of one of Italy’s most important industrial zones in Brianza – a site of wood-crafting superiority for more than a century.

The exhibition has been designed by Jasper Morrison, with graphics from Studio Cerri & Associati, and prototypes and iconic products of the group’s four companies – Molteni & C, Unifor, Dada and Citterio.

The exhibit also represents the journey of an Italian company that began as an artisan business in the 1930s, and developed into an industrial enterprise by the 1950s. The company has collaborated with Italian and international architects and designers – including Foster + Partners, Jean Nouvel, Álvaro Siza, Pier Luigi Cerri, Michele De Lucchi, Rodolfo Dordoni, Ferruccio Laviani, Luca Meda, Dante Bonuccelli, Aldo Rossi, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Hannes Wettstein, Patricia Urquiola, Ron Gilad, Werner Blaser and Richard Sapper.
