An appetite for on-trend restaurant furniture

Carefully designed, on-trend interiors, utilising fashionable furniture can add a sense of style and identity to any venue, and have the potential to deliver a memorable dining experience for customers that is full of atmosphere and character. The importance of impactful restaurant design, and perhaps more importantly selecting the perfect furniture, therefore, is not a decision to be taken lightly for any restaurateur.

Traditional oaks and veneers have dominated the industry for countless years, and continue to be popular with many restaurants. However, characteristic furniture crafted from dark, rich woods from Indian rosewood to mango wood and Sheesham rosewood is quickly gathering pace in the eatery scene and giving restauranteurs more options than ever before.

The versatility of trendy dark wood means it can be used in a number of ways, from dining tables and chairs, all the way through to seating for bar areas, mirrors and even wine shelves, meaning restaurateurs are quickly realising the value it can bring to their venues.

Each piece of furniture is created using the finest exotic woods – be that Indian Sheesham wood or mango wood – showcasing the diverse, natural shades, tones and textures of the wood and creating a distinctive style that can be used to deliver a contemporary, luxurious interior design.

A recent refurbishment at a high-end Indian restaurant, which encapsulates the style of exotic woods, saw Trade Furniture Company design and supply a suite of Jali Sheesham wood furniture, created exclusively for the project.

Eriki restaurant, London

Given its renowned reputation for producing award-winning Indian cuisine, Eriki Restaurant in London was the natural location for an Asian-inspired dining area that draws upon the unique characteristics of Jali Sheesham wood furniture.

When it came to Eriki’s new-look interior, Yorkshire-based retailer Trade Furniture Company were challenged with creating an elegant, warm and welcoming environment which would reflect the highly esteemed cuisine on offer.

Upon entering the fine dining Indian restaurant, diners’ eyes are immediately drawn to the rich, natural tones of the Indian wood dining furniture, which takes centre stage in a new-look dining area. Drawing influence from the exotic style of Indian Sheesham and mango wood, the interior includes a distinctive range of dining tables and carver chairs crafted from Jali Sheesham wood.

“Restaurant design has evolved dramatically over the past decade, with the growing popularity of more exotic materials resulting in traditional oaks and veneers giving way to furniture crafted from alternative woods such as Indian rosewood, Mango wood and Sheesham rosewood”

An impressive showcase of Sheesham wood – each piece of furniture has been designed to the restaurant’s exact specification – with exclusive touches delivering a truly bespoke look to the new aesthetic. A handcrafted Eriki logo design is hand-crafted into each table, creating a truly one-of-a-kind design that simply can’t be replicated by other restaurants.

Natural wood tones combine with warm, rich reds, traditional Indian tapestries and crisp white linen to help create a striking, yet contemporary interior that gives a nod to the restaurant’s exotic heritage.

An evolving restaurant scene

In the fast-paced restaurant industry, change is a constant. Whether that change comes in the shape of more diverse international cuisine hitting the UK restaurant scene, driven by the more sophisticated palates of their customers, or indeed new interior design trends taking the sector by storm.

Restaurant design has evolved dramatically over the past decade, with the growing popularity of more exotic materials resulting in traditional oaks and veneers giving way to furniture crafted from alternative woods such as Indian rosewood, Mango wood and Sheesham rosewood in restaurant interiors nationwide.

What this means for today’s restaurateurs is, whether they are looking for a complete refurbishment or simply wish to make an impactful statement with a spattering of new furnishings, it can all be achieved without compromising on style or indeed cost.

Trade Furniture Company are leading UK importers of reclaimed Indian wood, with over 20 years’ experience designing solid wood furniture and 7 years’ experience selling reclaimed Indian, Mango and Sheesham wood furniture – all at trade prices.

With customer service at the heart of the business, the company has extensive experience of working to the exact specifications of customers in the hospitality sector, in order to deliver furniture tailored to their needs and environment. For more information visit: www.tradefurniturecompany.co.uk
