Bahrain has recently announced that it will introduce a new categorisation system for hotels. This will primarily impact on the rules for three, four and five-star hotels, with regards to the size of rooms, the beds and quality of furniture. Additionally, a change in terminology will mean that bars and nightclubs will hereafter be referred to as lounges.
150 representatives from Bahrain’s four-and five-star hotels met with Industry and Commerce Minister, Zayed Al Zayani, and Tourism Affairs assistant under-secretary, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, at the InterContinental Regency Bahrain to discuss the new rules.
