BIID announces theme of 2019 conference

The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has announced that its annual conference will be returning on Thursday 7th November 2019 at 30 Euston Square, London.

Entitled “Inside Knowledge 2019: What is an Interior Designer Worth?” this year’s conference will explore the value of interior design, with talks from expert speakers, advice and practical sessions to support interior designers working in the industry today.

“Design fees are a frequently debated topic in our industry so it’s important to give interior designers a platform to discuss their views and tackle this often contentious subject,” says BIID President Elect, Harriet Forde.

“We’re hoping that the theme for this year’s BIID 2019 conference will provide an opportunity for healthy debate and the exchange of ideas, exploring key issues that are impacting the interior design sector today. We look forward to welcoming BIID Members and industry professionals to the event in November.”

One of the panel discussions will explore fee transparency; is it a good or bad idea to list your fees on your website; do you charge by the hour, day, month or a fixed fee for the project?

Other talks will discuss the public’s perception of interior designers and experts will offer advice on what designers can do to boost their presentation skills and build their personal brands.

The BIID Inside Knowledge conference is designed to equip interior designers and design professionals with practical ideas and guidance to apply to their own business. The event is also BIID CPD accredited and is worth 6 CPD hours.

The conference is suitable for interior designers setting up a new practice, as well as those already running an existing business who are looking for new, innovative ideas.

Further details on the 2019 conference, including the programme, speakers and supporters will be announced shortly. Tickets are available to book now, with the first 50 offered at an exclusive discounted rate of £125 (+VAT) for BIID Members, £165 (+VAT) for non-Members and £70 (+VAT) for BIID Student Members.
