JW Marriott, part of Marriott International, has announced the opening of JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa, marking the debut of Marriott International’s iconic JW Marriott brand in the Pacific region. Located close to the Gold Coast’s gorgeous golden beaches, unspoilt hinterlands and famous family attractions, the resort brings a new level of luxury to the beachside city. For discerning guests, this is a sophisticated sanctuary that lets them kick back, relax and rediscover a sense of balance in body and mind. Travelers who wish to explore the Gold Coast’s most popular visitor attractions will find the resort conveniently located close to Surfers Paradise Beach, Sea World, Dream World, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and many more must-see destinations.

“We are excited to continue the growth of our luxury footprint and expand our brand portfolio in Australia with the opening of JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Marriott International. “Despite the challenges from ongoing international air travel restrictions, we have nevertheless seen strong demand within the luxury hospitality segment this year. We are greatly encouraged by this, and look forward to welcoming back local and international guests to experience the outstanding luxury and service of our newest property here in the beautiful Gold Coast.”

The new resort’s aesthetic is inspired by its natural surroundings, embodying the beauty and relaxed mood of coastal Queensland. The lobby and public spaces reflect a design narrative inspired by the surrounding landscapes. The 223 guestrooms and suites draw inspiration from their urban beachside context and are designed to appeal to the most discerning traveller. Rooms are open and spacious, and feature thoughtful compositions of soft natural colour palettes and materials.

JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa allows guests to relax, unwind and experience every pleasurable moment of their stay with unique features such as the brand’s signature Secret Spots, private nooks and secluded spaces for quiet pauses and reflection. Guests can also participate in a series of five to 10-minute relaxation rituals and activities daily, such as guided meditation sessions, that will leave them feeling nourished and revitalized in body and soul.

JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa presents six new food and beverage venues which offer a diverse range of cuisines, locally sourced produce and sophisticated bar menus. The signature restaurant Misono, inspired by the famous Harajuku laneways, offers an ‘avenue’ of Japanese dining experiences including an intimate Izakaya sushi bar, tearoom and whisky bar with an outdoor terrace. The resort’s all-day dining restaurant, Citrique, places fresh local produce and seafood at the heart of its menu and features a show kitchen where guests can enjoy live cooking presentations. Forming part of Citrique, JW Market is the hotel’s café and provedore, serving freshly ground coffee and healthy grab-and-go bites. Located in the lobby, Chapter & Verse is a tranquil lounge by day and a sophisticated bar in the evenings, with indoor and outdoor seating for guests to enjoy handcrafted cocktails overlooking views of the spotlit lagoons and pool areas at night. The resort highlights its commitment to naturally-inspired dining through its JW Garden which offers fresh, local ingredients for authentic farm-to-table dining experiences, hands-on cooking classes and specialty drinks.

A tropical aquatic area, a resort highlight, includes both a saltwater lagoon and a freshwater pool. The lagoon pool is encircled by white sandy beaches and tropical gardens featuring a cascading waterfall, reminiscent of the Gold Coast landscape. For a day on the water with a side of relaxation, guests can check in to one of the private cabanas that line the lagoon edge. A poolside cocktail delivery from the Pool Bar is available as are light meals, snacks and other cooling refreshments. For an indulgent experience, Spa by JW® offers thoughtfully customized treatments to provide a holistic approach to wellbeing, whilst Family by JW programs ensure the resort’s youngest guests are bonding and engaged in fun and creative experiences during their stay.

Located minutes from the beach, the resort offers a refined coastal venue for memorable weddings, meetings and events with 2,000 square meters of function space, featuring ten scalable spaces for different event requirements. The pillarless 715 square-meter JW Ballroom features vehicle access, geared for large-scale exhibitions and product launches, whilst the junior ballroom, flooded with natural light and pool views, provides a stylish space for creative meetings and events.

“This is an exciting opening for the JW Marriott brand, marking its debut in the Pacific region,” said Jennie Toh, Vice President, Brand Marketing and Brand Management, Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “With its warm and welcoming approach to luxury, and experiences centred around mindfulness and togetherness, we believe the brand is particularly suited to the Australian traveller. JW Marriott’s enriching and thoughtfully-curated programming will enable guests to embark on a journey of discovery and renewal, with a transformative experience taking place the minute they walk through the door.”
