With just over two months to go until the sixth annual British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) Conference, the BIID has now announces the day’s much anticipated programme.

Offering a full day of practical content, the programme includes eight inspiring and informative talks on business success that aim to help interior designers to develop and grow their businesses.

Taking place at 30 Euston Square, London, on Thursday 8th June, registration for the conference will open at 8:30am, with talks running from 9am to 4:45pm.

“We are looking forward to sharing a refreshed format for the Institute’s sixth annual conference,” says Susie Rumbold, BIID President. “Inside Knowledge: The BIID Business Success Conference is the only conference in the UK that explores and examines the key business issues facing interior designers in today’s market.

“Delivering practical and actionable advice, we will be sharing professional insights that attendees can apply to their own business and career. The day is set to be an unmissable day for design professionals; from those just starting out in the industry, to established designers who are keen to develop their business and share professional best practice. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Highlight sessions for the day include:

Success Case Study: How I pivoted my business from residential to commercial: Using her own success story, BIID Past President and interior designer, Lori Pinkerton-Rolet, will highlight fundamental skills sets, marketing approaches and information required to introduce commercial projects into a residential design practice.

Building a Great Interiors Brand: Chaired by BIID President Elect Charles Leon, this panel discussion will see Karen Howes, interior designer and co-founder of Taylor Howes and Alex De Blonay, co-founder and brand strategist of Pure DNA, explore the elements that make a great and enduring interiors brand.

Secrets of survival: Running a business, staying creative and maintaining your sanity after 25 years in interior design: Forming a live discussion on stage, renowned designers Joanna Wood and Dickie Bannenberg will delve into the essential ingredients that have been key to their successful careers.

Mark-ups and handling fees – A financial and ethical time bomb? In this session, a leading panel of experts will try and bring clarity to the extremely complex issue of mark-ups and handling fees. Chaired by BIID President, Susie Rumbold, panellists include Colin Jones, partner at Hewitsons solicitors, David Keirle, founder and chairman of KSS architects, and Rachel Smart, founder of Rachel Smart Ltd, design business consultant and strategist.

Amongst other talks throughout the day and case study stories, the conference will open with a headline keynote conversation from a well-known entrepreneur aimed to inspire, educate and enlighten attendees for the engaging day ahead.

The BIID Conference is also pleased to be supported by a range of high-quality interior brands who will be this year’s exhibitors; Hamilton Litestat, Roca, Selectaglaze, Spiral Cellars and UK Hide. All exhibitors will be available throughout the day to answer any questions attendees may have and to showcase their latest ranges.
