The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton, the City of London’s newest lifestyle hotel, is now officially open. Owned by Dominus and operated by its hotel platform, Dominus Hospitality, the hotel is perfectly positioned on Great Tower Street, within walking distance of the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral and eight tube stations, the hotel blends British charm with contemporary sophistication in the heart of the Square Mile.
The hotel’s name, inspired by the iconic bowler hat – affectionately known as a “Derby” – pays homage to a symbol that has been intertwined with British style and the City’s storied banking heritage.
With 234 contemporary rooms, including 13 signature suites offering panoramic views of the City skyline, The Derby is a sophisticated sanctuary for both business and leisure travellers.
On arrival, guests are welcomed by The Treasury Wall, a bespoke installation that pays homage to thebuilding’s past as a bank and the rich financial heritage of the surrounding district. Every evening at 5:10pm, a reference to the hotel’s address, 5-10 Great Tower Street, guests are invited to join The Golden Hour, a daily ritual where the team introduces the cocktail of the day.
At the heart of the hotel is Rycrofte’s Restaurant, Coffeehouse and Bar, a bold, authentic and welcoming new destination inspired by Sir John Rycrofte, Sergeant of the Larder to Henry VII and Henry VIII, believed to be buried in the neighbouring church garden. Overlooking the tranquil ruins of St Dunstan in the East Church Garden, Rycrofte’s re-imagines classic British dishes with a twist, sat beside one of London’s most enchanting hidden gardens, providing a rare moment of calm among the business of the city.
The Derby offers two dedicated boardrooms for 10 and 20 delegates, ideal for meetings or private dining in the City. For corporate drinks and larger events, a dedicated private dining area for 30 and event space for up to 70 guests are also available, both overlooking St Dunstan in the East.
Additional amenities include a 24-hour gym and curated experiences such as the Mercer’s Market. TheMarket will serve as a monthly celebration of local artists and artisans, honouring the legacy of Sir Robert Tate, who was a Freeman of the Mercers’ Company and Merchant of the Staple and former London Mayor.
