Waikiki’s Newest Surf-Inspired Hotel, The Twin Fin, opens in November

Waikiki is best known as the birthplace of modern surfing with glistening turquoise waters along one of the most famous shorelines in the world. The Twin Fin, formerly known as the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, will open in November 2022 following a multi-million-dollar renovation. The beachfront hotel will serve as the heartbeat of the destination — a gathering place for guests to connect with others and a hub for discovering local music, art and a lasting connection with the local Hawaiian community.

The hotel was lovingly named after a surfboard with two fins that is ideal for mellow, playful and cruisy surfing. Making their debut in the 1970s and popular again today, twin fins are perfect for small to medium surf, exactly the kind that guests have access to directly in front of the hotel. The updated hotel embraces Hawaii’s laidback and lively spirit with an oceanfront backdrop, tropical ambiance, unexpected experiences and endless opportunities to share memorable, meaningful moments.

Accented with hints of mid-century modern design, the updated guest rooms and suites feature a contemporary aesthetic that celebrates the energy and attitude of modern surf culture, with a playful nod to the timeless charm of surfing’s past. The rooms are comfortably stylish with stunning, front-row views of Waikiki Beach and thoughtful touches such as custom printed surf ponchos. Tropical patterns, pops of color and blue hues echo the island’s pristine beaches and bright waters. In addition, each guest will receive a custom Twin Fin-branded phone mount from Tentikle for the duration of their stay. As seen on Shark Tank, the all-in-one bendable suction cup accessory holder allows guests to capture their entire Hawaii experience from start to finish.

In addition, new staff uniforms will be designed by Hawaii-based Throwback League and the pool deck will be updated with six new cabanas featuring playful pops of color. Pool service will be offered overlooking Waikiki’s iconic backdrop and a rotating series of DJs and musicians will provide an upbeat ambiance in the evenings. Additional programming includes talk story sessions, star gazing activities, vinyl nights and more. Activity rental credits for Waikiki Beach Candy are included in the resort amenity fee, and guests can easily redeem for a variety of water sport rentals, such as surfboards, umbrellas, paddleboards and beach chairs to further enhance their Hawaii travel experience while preserving the environment and reducing waste.

The Twin Fin has partnered with Surfline, the world’s leading company for wave forecasting and surf reports, to install 3 HD cameras that will stream real-time surf conditions on a large-scale video wall in the lobby and other locations throughout the hotel. Guests will also receive a Surfline Premium membership discount after their stay. Artist collective POW! WOW! will create custom murals, activations and photo opportunities throughout the hotel, including a surfboard installation at the hotel entrance. Six surfboards will be painted by three Hawaii-based artists in an ocean theme.
