Wright Brothers announce launch of new Oyster House in South Kensington

Oyster specialists and seafood wholesalers, the Wright Brothers, are set to bring their informal oyster and seafood dining experience to South Kensington with the launch of a new restaurant in June 2015.

Wright Brothers South Kensington, located on the former site of La Bouchée, on Old Brompton Road, will feature a menu of the finest sourced and locally cultivated oysters and fruits-de-mer alongside a regularly changing specials board, led by head chef Philip Coulter.

Interiors, designed by Brady Williams, will take inspiration from the laid-back oyster house culture of their award-winning Borough restaurant and will include an intimate private dining room with floor-to- ceiling windows and a fireplace.

A first for the brothers will be its own independent bar, accessible from the street, where locals can sip from carefully selected wines and cocktails whilst ‘pound a pop’ oysters, cultivated from their own Duchy Oyster Farm, will be served during happy hour.

“We have always wanted to open in South Kensington, it feels like that little corner of Paris where, we first began to dream about re-popularising the oyster in London,” Wright Brother, Robin Hancock says.

Brother-in-law Ben Wright adds: “In the UK, an oyster is still seen as just an oyster but there are a whole variety, with different provenances and their own distinctive tastes and flavours that we can’t wait to introduce to the residents of South Kensington.”

Brothers-in-law Ben Wright and Robin Hancock started Wright Brothers in 2002 with a simple aim to revive the UK’s love for the oyster.

They cultivate over 14 million native and pacific oysters directly from their own Duchy Oyster Farm, part of the private estate of HRH The Prince of Wales on the Helford River in Cornwall. Over time, they have grown their wholesale business to become recognised as the go-to experts for oysters and the finest seafood, supplying over 150 prominent restaurants and chefs across the UK.

Compiling all their knowledge, Ben and Robin decided to put their ‘sea to plate’ passion into restaurants and Wright Brothers South Kensington is their fifth restaurant, following the success of their award- winning Oyster & Porter House in Borough Market (Zagat Top 5 London Seafood Restaurant), Soho Oyster House (Good Food Guide Top 3 London Seafood Restaurant), critically acclaimed Wright Brothers Spitalfields and The Ferryboat Inn in Cornwall.
