Sara Baldwin, founder and creative director at New Ravenna Mosaics, has designed a summer-inspired glass mosaic named Marabel, as part of the Silk Road collection.
Sara’s designs reflect the high level of imagination that go into every piece of mosaic that New Ravenna Mosaics produces. The smooth and elegant texture helps to create a seamless movement from piece to piece.
The contrast between pale and bright colours is a juxtaposition of classic and contemporary, which resonates throughout Sara’s designs. The nod to ancient Greek nudes and the flicker of contemporary vivid colours are inspired by the entire Silk Road collection of stone mosaics.
Silk Road is presented in a simplified palette of whites, greys and black. Thassos, Calacatta, Carrara, Bardiglio and Nero Marquina stones are used, enabling clients to imagine the almost endless colour combinations New Ravenna Mosaics can render in both stone and glass.
Each of Sara’s compositions is handcrafted in Virginia, USA. Colour palettes range from a soft blend of pearls to piercing aquamarines. Each design is made to order in the Virginia mosaic studio and delivered to any location in the world.
