Songbird restaurant and bar opens in Canary Wharf

Songbird Restaurant & Bar on Cartier Circle in Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf has now opened, as the venue launches a dedicated à la carte offering for lunch and dinner service.

Previously reserved exclusively for Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre audiences, the 125-cover restaurant is now positioning itself as a standalone dining destination. Bringing together seasonal British cooking, design-led interiors and waterfront views, the venue also caters to corporate and social occasions with two private rooms and a semi-private area for group gatherings.

Designed by Rachel Gowdridge, whose previous projects include The Hoxton and Gleneagles Hotel, the interiors feature curved banquettes, green marble tables and a central circular cocktail bar that anchors the dining room. For smaller celebrations, The Goldcrest is a semi-private section for up to 12 guests beside floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Canary Wharf and beyond, towards the O2.

The menu focuses on British dishes, balancing comfort-led dining with indulgence and theatrical touches. Signature dishes include crumpets & caviar; devilled eggs with miso mayonnaise and trout roe; braised beef rarebit; pan-roasted cod with English sparkling wine butter sauce and a Wagyu burger finished tableside with freshly shaved truffle.* Desserts lean into nostalgia and include a build-your-own sundae experience while cocktails draw on nostalgic British flavours with serves such as the Earl Grey Martini, Yorkshire Negroni and Smoked Old Fashioned.

Alongside dinner service, Songbird Restaurant & Bar is also introducing a new lunch menu to appeal to local residents and workers, featuring a 5oz dry-aged rump steak sandwich, the Songbird schnitzel and a lobster roll.

Oliver Royds, joint Founder and CEO of Troubadour Theatres Limited, comments:“Opening Songbird to non-theatre guests allows us to extend the venue far beyond the performance itself and create a restaurant with its own identity. We’ve always believed the space had the potential to become a true dining destination for Canary Wharf, and the launch of the new à la carte menu is an important step in that evolution.”
