Bloomsbury’s first rooftop bar and restaurant to open this summer

A new lookout is coming to Bloomsbury this summer, as one of the capital’s most talked about neighbourhoods makes way for its first – and only – rooftop bar and restaurant.
Overlooking Russell Square, Arcus is set to become Bloomsbury’s rooftop beacon — a bold, modernist destination where design, culture, and skyline views converge for guests to come for more than just the sweeping views, but to feel like they are part of Bloomsbury itself.
One of Central London’s biggest rooftops, the space makes the city feel close yet never crowded, allowing guests to take advantage of near-360° views that stretch from the City and St. Paul’s Cathedral to the London Eye and domes of the British Museum, grounded by the park below.
The 330-seat venue is inspired by London’s most unpredictable guest: the weather. Built to the path of the sun, Arcus creates an as-yet-undiscovered vista of London that lifts both mood and moment, with carefully mixed cocktails and a seasonally inspired menu of small plates.
Flowing effortlessly from inside to out, Arcus’ generous and meticulously zoned 327m2 footprint balances intimacy with impact. Open to both hotel guests and the public, guests choose their mood — from vibrant gatherings at high tables, to quiet connections in plush lounge settings. Canopied areas cater for all-weather comfort, while thoughtful lighting choices keep the atmosphere alive whether visiting for a sunlit brunch, golden-hour live music, or late-night DJ set.
When it comes to interiors, carefully curated mid-century textures are blended with modernist clarity, while original art by Adam Ellis features from the ground up. Recognisable landmarks are combined with patterns and shapes that intentionally blend the familiar and the reimagined, with tactile touches and details revealing themselves throughout.
Beyond cocktails and small plates, Arcus will offer a rhythm of daily rituals that evolves as day becomes night. Featuring sunrise sound baths, live performances, and sun salutations, guests are invited to find connections – with their intentions, with the neighbourhood, and with the seasons.
